The other three areas are: • Technology → In 2014, GSBC added electives to help students better understand technology, The Effective Use of Technology at Community Banks and Cyber- security and the Payment System. In 2015, GSBC will offer a new elective on alternative branching strategies, Branch Transformation Bootcamp, and students will have the opportunity to learn about the latest threats in cybersecurity in a lunch presentation by Phillip Hinkle, Director of IT Security Examinations, Texas Department of Banking. • Non-Bank Competitors → Community banks are facing an increase in competition fromnon-bank and/or un-regulated entities today. GSBC has invited Sid Jajodia of Lending Club and Virginia Varela of Golden Pacific Bank to deliver a lunch presentation, Opportunities for Community Banks with Online Lenders. • Sales Culture & Bank Performance → Roxanne Emmerich of The Emmerich Group will be teaching High-Performance Banking Savvy of theMasters, a class aimed at GSBC third-year students about how to develop a performance culture to increase bank performance. CBA encourages bankers to take part in the valuable programs GSBC has to offer. The industry’s ability to succeed in the future depends on the groundwork put down today.
