These are developed by the ˜ŸŽ›—–Ž—ȱ Ž•Š’˜—œȱ ˜ž—Œ’•ȱ ’‘ȱ input and suggestions from a broad range of our members, state bankers Šœœ˜Œ’Š’˜—œȱŠ—ȱ ȱŒ˜––’ĴŽŽœȱ and councils. They are adopted by the ABA board and serve as our political advocacy roadmap for the coming year. Our priority policy positions – whether they are leveling the Œ˜–™Ž’’ŸŽȱ™•Š¢’—ȱꎕȱ‹¢ȱ eliminating the outdated and unnecessary tax exemption for credit unions, or calling for meaningful regulatory relief for community banks – unite our industry in both common purposes and shared goals. Our Alliance depends on the leadership of the Indiana Bankers Association President and CEO Joe Ž ŠŸŽ—ȱŠ—ȱ‘ŽȱŒ˜––’–Ž—ȱŠ—ȱ engagement of Indiana bankers, including: % Michael Bauer, Community Bank Shares of Indiana Inc., New Albany, who serves on ABA’s Membership Council; % David Findlay, Lakeland Financial Corp., Warsaw, who serves on ABA’s Government Ž•Š’˜—œȱ ˜ž—Œ’•ȱ –’—’œ›Š’ŸŽȱ ˜––’ĴŽŽDz Advocacy for You and by You яќѢѡȱѡѕђȱ Ѣѡѕќџ Frank Keating was named president and chief Ž¡ŽŒž’ŸŽȱ˜ĜŒŽ›ȱ˜ȱ‘Žȱ –Ž›’ŒŠ—ȱ Š—”Ž›œȱ œœ˜Œ’Š- tion in 2011. His appointment followed seven years of service as president and CEO of the American Council of Life Insurers and after serving two terms as governor of Oklahoma. Keating’s 30-year career in law enforcement and public service included stints ŠœȱŠ—ȱ ȱŠŽ—ǰȱ ǯ ǯȱŠĴ˜›—Ž¢ȱŠ—ȱœŠŽȱ™›˜œŽŒž˜›ǰȱ and Oklahoma House and Senate member. Author of three award-winning children’s biographies, he earned an undergraduate degree from Georgetown University, a law degree from the University of ”•Š‘˜–ŠȱŠ—ȱ’œȱ‘Žȱ›ŽŒ’™’Ž—ȱ˜ȱ꟎ȱ‘˜—˜›Š›¢ȱŽ›ŽŽœǯȱ ‘ŽȱŠž‘˜›ȱŒŠ—ȱ‹Žȱ ›ŽŠŒ‘ŽȱŠDZȱĤŽŠ’—ȓŠ‹ŠǯŒ˜–ǯ FEATURE FRANK KEATING American Bankers Association % Michael Marhenke, Independent Alliance Banks Inc., Fort Wayne, who serves on ABA’s Community Bankers Council; % Larry Myers, First Savings Financial Group, Clarksville, who serves on ABA’s Community Bankers Council; and % Michael Zahn, First Federal Savings Bank, Huntington, who serves on ABA’s Banker Advocacy Š—ȱ ›Šœœ›˜˜œȱ ˜––’ĴŽŽǯ These bankers have stepped up to set our agenda and to help us move forward in reaching our goals. We want you and your banking colleagues to make sure that lawmakers and regulators understand the principles that guide our industry and incorporate them into policy. 
