Bank staff competed during two weekends in various activities, including sand volleyball, kickball and canoe races. The bank earned first place in the division of 100 employees or fewer. The bank raised approximately $350 to donate to Parkview Huntington YMCA. MutualBank, Muncie, held the BetterLife Awards Celebration at Grace College on Oct. 18 as a part of the bank’s 125th anniversary celebration. The awards banquet was attended by more than 300 people, including 125 award finalists. The bank awarded over $40,000 to 17 winners in various amounts; monetary awards were to be applied to charities of the winners’ choosing. Salin Bank, Indianapolis, has donated its Logansport bank building to Trine University. The 15,600-square-foot office building is valued at $390,000. Trine University will use the building for its Logansport Education Center, a regional campus operated by the institution’s School of Professional Studies. iAB Financial Bank, Fort Wayne, employees volunteered their time and banking experience on Oct. 16 by teaching financial literacy to area students as part of Get Smart About Credit Day. The bank worked with over 500 middle and high school students in Allen, Huntington and Wells counties. Bank staff discussed the importance of using credit wisely, making financial decisions and developing money management skills. United Bank, Evansville, hosted its sixth Community Day at the bank’s Mt. Vernon banking center on Aug. 23. The event celebrated the community by welcoming 23 local nonprofits and organizations to distribute information to the public about their services. Local dancing and musical talent also was showcased. West End Bank, Richmond, selects one nonprofit organization each month as a focus for charitable efforts. For the month of October, the bank selected Reid Foundation’s Bravo Initiative, presenting the organization with a donation of $431. West End Bank, Richmond, committed a pledge in 2012 of $50,000 for the new Music Therapy Room at the Wernle Youth and Family Treatment Center. Funds were donated from the bank and the West End Bank Charitable Foundation to be used for rebuilding, restoring and building new facilities. The center’s new Music Therapy Room is a result of the commitment made in 2012. West End Bank, Richmond, hosted elementary students from Richmond Community Schools, including Fairview, Westview and Crestdale elementary schools, as part of its We R Saver program. The program provides student tellers with the opportunity to learn how bank branches operate.
