Daniels, Krieg DeVault LLP, Indianapolis, has been elected to serve as managing partner of the firm effective Jan. 1, 2015, succeeding managing partner Michael E. Williams. She has been with Krieg DeVault LLP for 15 years. Previously she served as attorney for the southern district of Indiana with the U.S. Department of Justice, director of the National Office for Weed and Seed, and assistant attorney general for the Office of Justice Programs. Daniels also has served as executive director and board chair of the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee and as president of the Sagamore Institute. She serves on the board of directors for the United Way of Central Indiana, Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee, Health and Hospital Corporation of Marion County, Economic Club of Indiana and the National Center for State Courts. Daniels earned a bachelor’s degree from DePauw University and a JD from the Indiana University McKinney School of Law. Meridian Title Corporation, South Bend, has completed its examination in conformity with Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) No. 16, Reporting on Controls at a Service Organization as of June 30. The examination, performed by an independent accounting and auditing firm, included company controls related to corporate governance, licenses, escrow trust account reconciliation and settlement procedures. SSAE 16 is designated by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as an acceptable method for a user entity’s management to obtain assurance about service organization internal controls without conducting additional assessments. t First Bank of Berne recognized Veteran’s Day in November by inviting area businessman Paul Zurcher, a veteran of World War II, to make an inspirational presentation to bank employees. In 1948, the bank had made a loan to Zurcher, enabling him to start his business. During the presentation, the bank donated $500 to the Northeast Indiana Honor Flight, an affiliate of a nonprofit network that provides travel funds to veterans to visit service memorials in Washington, D.C. Home Bank, Martinsville, participated as the title sponsor for the “More Than Houses” breakfast for Habitat for Humanity of Johnson County. Bank President/ CEO Dan Moore spoke at the event. The bank has been an active supporter of Habitat for Humanity of Morgan County and plans to participate in the Women’s Build in the spring of 2015 in Johnson County. iAB Financial Bank, Fort Wayne, held its second annual iCare Day on Nov. 11. More than 270 bank employees volunteered at over 20 local charitable organizations in Allen, Huntington and Wells counties. The bank created the event as a way to give back to local communities and to commemorate the anniversary of the bank.
