2014 Vol. 98 No. 12

18 Hoosier Banker December 2014 FEATURE This fall the Indiana Bankers Association’s Future Leadership Division (FLD) hosted its second annual Bridging Bankers, Building Leaders leadership conference in Indianapolis. Over the course of two days, Oct. 29 and 30, more than 65 emerging leaders from IBA-member banks across Indiana participated in a variety of educational and leadership development-focused presentations. Session topics included an overview of workplace personalities, an emerging leaders’ roundtable, insight on the latest aspects of social media, an economic forecast and essential leadership traits. The event kicked off with a dynamic presentation by Dr. Juli Lynch, one of the IBA’s Leadership Development Program instructors. She provided an overview of her customized personality archetype evaluation and explained how those traits affect interaction among other employees. Lynch’s presentation was followed by an emerging leader’s panel discussion, with each panelist providing insight into the leadership traits that have helped propel their own career paths and what leadership traits they value in others. The day capped off with a networking reception, followed by a dinner and a social media presentation by Dr. Jeff Cohen, professor of marketing analytics and social media at Ball State University. The second day began with an economic forecast from a wellregarded economist, Dr. Mike Hicks of Ball State University. He provided insight into the economic conditions that could advance or retreat economic growth in Indiana and nationwide. The conference concluded with two separate presentations by renowned leadership author and speaker Brian Townley, who applied his unique perspective as a former bank employee with his messages on outlining the character of an effective leader, and ways to motivate others in the workplace to reach their potential.
