38 Hoosier Banker August 2014 iAB Financial Bank, Fort Wayne, made a donation of over 420 pairs of jeans to the Rescue Mission as a part of the bank’s “Wear a Pair, Bring a Pair Jeans Drive.” The jeans, donated by staff, family members and friends, will be sold by the Rescue Mission in its secondhand store to fund special programs. Lafayette Savings Bank celebrated 145 years of service with a community celebration on July 1 that included appearances from Olympic gold medalist David Boudia, prizes and snacks. A press conference also was held as the bank made a donation of $25,000 to the Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette in honor of the bank’s anniversary. Springs Valley Bank & Trust Company, French Lick, contributed $2,500 in July to the Springs Valley Education Foundation. The Foundation is a nonprofit-supporting organization for Springs Valley Schools. The donation will be used to help increase educational opportunities for students. t Banking on communiTy 1st Source Bank, South Bend, contributed $1,000 to the Abigail Marie Little Playground Fund on behalf of Carrie Wells, Columbia City banking center manager. The contribution was a result of Wells’ being awarded the bank’s Ernestine M. Raclin Community Leadership Award, which she earned from her commitment and volunteer leadership with the Whitley County Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement and other organizations. The fund is held by the Whitley County Community Foundation. Alliance Bank, Francesville, has joined with other community organizations and families in Francesville in the “Adopt-A-Spot” program. The bank has pledged to provide litter control, beautification, education and community service for its adopted spot in the Francesville Town Park. Farmers and Mechanics Federal Savings and Loan, Bloomfield, contributed $14,500 in June to the Greene County Foundation. The contribution is designated to benefit low- to moderateincome needs for the county’s residents. West End Bank, SB, Richmond, selects one nonprofit organization each month as a focus for charitable efforts. For June, the bank selected The Melanoma Research Foundation, presenting it with a donation of $1,246.
