21 Hoosier Banker September 2014 Ameriana Bank, New Castle, in conjunction with the Ameriana Bank Hall of Fame Golf Classic, raised $27,000 to benefit the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in New Castle. More than $500,000 has been raised over the course of 24 years as a result of the golf outing. The bank donated the land on which the museum was built in 1990 and has since remained a title sponsor of the golf outing. iAB Financial Bank, Fort Wayne, donated $4,891 to the American Cancer Society by participating in the Huntington County Relay for Life on June 14. The bank was named as the relay’s top fundraising team, with 30 bank employees and family members completing the 24-hour walk. Bank employee Maxine Ptak raised $1,010, making her the top fundraiser for the entire relay. West End Bank, SB, Richmond, selects one nonprofit organization each month as a focus for charitable efforts. The bank presented the home and keys on July 31 to representatives of Habitat for Humanity and to the Porter County Coalition for Affordable Housing. Citizens State Bank, New Castle, donated $4,130 to Relay for Life to support cancer awareness in the six counties the bank serves. In addition to participating in the 24-hour walk, each company employee had the opportunity to donate $5 weekly in exchange for wearing jeans on Fridays during the month of May.
