TAKING IT EASY Jamie R. Shinabarger retired from his duties as CEO of Springs Valley Bank & Trust Company, Jasper, effective Dec. 31. Prior to joining the bank in 2008, he was president and CEO of Hicksville Building, Loan and Savings Bank in Ohio, where he spent 21 years, representing the bulk of his career. He started as an ag loan officer and appraiser with the Federal Land Bank of Bryan (Ohio) and then as a loan asset specialist with the consolidated Farm Credit Services of Defiance (Ohio). Shinabarger’s community involvement includes Dubois Strong, Radius Indiana, the Kiwanis Club of Jasper and Junior Achievement. He served as chairman of the Indiana Bankers Association in 2023, is a member of the IBA 40-Year Club and received the prestigious Sagamore of the Wabash from Gov. Eric J. Holcomb in August 2023. Shinabarger will remain on the bank’s board after retirement from his daily duties. David Smith will retire from his duties as president of STAR Bank, Fort Wayne’s Columbia City market, on April 30. He has been with the bank for 35 years. Smith serves on the Whitley County School District board and has previously served on the boards of Whitley County Economic Development, Whitley County Community Foundation, Whitely County United Way and many more.
