The KBA Internship Connection Program Building Banking Futures The KBA recognizes the industry’s workforce challenges. As a result, the Internship Connection Program was created to be a resource for KBA member banks to find and recruit future banking professionals. The program is a talent pipeline between our members and Kansas junior colleges, colleges and universities. As a result of KBA collegiate outreach efforts, over 500 students across eight Kansas academic institutions were exposed to career opportunities in banking. This program has broadened awareness of banking careers and fostered connections between students and industry leaders, as highlighted by Lance White, President & CEO of Bank of the Flint Hills. “At Bank of the Flint Hills, we’re proud to offer banking internships each year, rotating interns through various departments to give them a well-rounded experience. We believe it’s our responsibility to inspire the next generation to consider a career in banking, and there’s no better way to do that than by welcoming young people to join our team and gain firsthand insight into the industry.” The Internship Connection Program is flexible and is designed to allow participating financial institutions to maximize their recruiting efforts. KBA staff works directly with banks to find students who are the best fit for their institution. Throughout the year, KBA staff attend collegiate career fairs, host lunch and learns, and meet with professors and college faculty to promote internship opportunities at Kansas banks.
