Paul Richard Boeding May 8, 1947-Feb. 6, 2025 With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Paul Richard Boeding, 77, of Seneca, Kansas, on Feb. 6, 2025, at his home. Born May 8, 1947, in Seneca to Edward M. and Mary (Mohan) Boeding, Paul was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He married Marilyn Elizabeth Heiman on Aug. 9, 1969, and together, they built a life centered on love and service. They were blessed with one son, Brian (Julie), and three cherished grandchildren, Andrew, Megan and Lily. A 1965 graduate of Saints Peter and Paul High School, Paul earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (1969) and a Juris Doctor (1972) from Washburn University. He later completed graduate studies at the University of Wisconsin Graduate School of Banking (1992). His distinguished banking career spanned decades, culminating in his role as President and CEO of Baileyville State Bank, where he served for 32 years before retiring in 2016. Beyond banking, Paul was dedicated to community service, serving on numerous boards, including the Seneca Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, the Nemaha Valley Health Care Foundation and multiple banking associations. He was also active in finance and education within Saints Peter and Paul Parish and School. In retirement, Paul enjoyed golfing, genealogy, cooking and traveling with Marilyn to destinations such as Lake Tahoe, Cape Coral, Australia and the Greek Isles. He treasured time with family, especially attending his grandchildren’s activities. Paul is remembered for his integrity, compassion and leadership. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Kathleen Dowd, Alice Rice and Al Boeding. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn; son Brian (Julie) of Wichita; grandchildren Andrew, Megan and Lily; and brother James (Mary Jane) Boeding of Seneca. Paul’s quiet strength and unwavering kindness touched many lives. He will be deeply missed. Scott Welch July 20, 1980- March 12, 2025 Scott Robert Welch of Moran, Kansas, died March 12, 2025, in a farming accident east of Moran. He was 44 years old. The son of Robert and Cheryl (Thompson) Welch, he was born July 20, 1980, in Iola, Kansas. Scott graduated from Marmaton Valley High School in 1998, he excelled in football, basketball, track, band and FFA. He was President of the Student Council, Homecoming King, and graduated with honors. He later earned a degree from Allen County Community College and Pittsburg State University in Business Administration — finance. After graduating high school, he met the love of his life, Amy Dawson. After dating for six years, they married on April 5, 2008. They had four children: Kalli Virginia, Kooper Robert James, Kinley Cheryl and Karly Kay. Kalli Virginia, their infant daughter, preceded him in death on July 21, 2009. Besides being a rancher for 27 years and farming, he was the owner of Our Market and Butcher Shop in Humboldt, Kansas, and worked as an Ag loan officer at the Bank of Commerce in Chanute, Kansas. His past work included being a partner in the SEK Stockyards in Gas City, Kansas, and working for the Fort Scott Livestock Association and MoKan Livestock Market.
