He treasured how those homes brought his favorite people together to enjoy good company, fun and food. John enjoyed photography, fishing, boating, four-wheeling, jazz, his beloved golden retrievers and, last but not least, golf. He served on the board of directors of the Rolling Green Golf Club and was a member for many years. I am happy I was able to call him immediately after passing my first architectural licensing exam. He was so proud. I finished the remaining exams after he passed away in March of 2020, and not being able to talk to him after them was difficult. I hope he knows I now draw at his drafting desk. I hope he knows my husband helped me save and display the museum’s worth of beautiful drawings from his career and from Kellogg & Kellogg’s 40+ years of architecture, and that I still look at them with reverence. I hope he knows I found two very special scraps of trace in his office with sketches that inspired the house my husband and I designed and built together. As I continue to make my way in life and in the field of architecture, I often wish he was here to guide me. At those times, I am comforted by recalling what he would assure me about my future in the profession, and I believe it also summed up his own experience: “You are going to have fun.” John and wife, Albina, at their summer home in Pinedale, Wyoming, in 2005 Fion Fellowship International Complex Chapel, Evanston, Wyoming, by John L.
