Russell, chief executive officer, Security Federal Savings Bank, Logansport, was honored as a 2014 Outstanding Woman in Banking by NorthWestern Financial Review magazine. She serves on the board of directors of the Indiana Bankers Association as second vice chairman and is slated to become the IBA’s first female chair in 2017. In 2010 NorthWestern Financial Review recognized Russell as a Rising Star in Banking. Mary Chmiel, consumer product manager, 1st Source Bank, South Bend, was awarded the certified IRA services professional (CISP) designation from the Institute of Certified Bankers, a subsidiary of the American Bankers Association. The CISP designation is awarded to individuals who demonstrate excellence in the field of IRA services and have met certain levels of experience and education about IRAs. Chmiel has served with the bank for 36 years. 1st Source Bank, South Bend, was awarded with the 2014 Community Lender Award by the Small Business Administration. This is the second straight year that the bank has achieved the award. The award was presented to Joe Kuzmitz, senior vice president of 1st Source business banking at the SBA’s Indiana lender award ceremony in December. Connie Bond Stuart, regional president of PNC Bank, NA, has been elected to serve as treasurer and vice chair elect on the 2015 board of directors for the Indy Chamber. The chamber’s membership includes nearly 2,500 businesses and represents 230,000 employees in the Indianapolis region. Three individuals from IBAmember institutions were recognized on the “20 Under 40” list by the Northwest Indiana Times. The list consists of individuals with outstanding leadership qualities, are key members of the Northwest region’s business community, and show commitment to business growth and development. Honorees: Chris Campbell, Centier Bank, Northern Indiana Steven Lammers, Krieg DeVault LLP, Indianapolis Theresa Mudd, First Merchants Bank, NA, Muncie Peoples Bank, Munster, was honored as Most Active Bank Partner by the Regional Development Company at its annual membership meeting. Additionally the following individuals were recognized as Most Active Lenders: Mark Behling, BMO Harris Bank, Chicago Dan Duncan, Peoples Bank, Munster Jonathan Hildebrand, Centier Bank, Northern Indiana Ron Knestrict, Peoples Bank, Munster Dan Magura, Peoples Bank, Munster Paul Orner, First Merchants Bank, Muncie IBA-member institutions and bankers were recognized by the Indiana Statewide Certified Development Corp. (CDC) for awards at the organization’s year-end meeting. Community First Bank of Indiana, Kokomo, was named 2014 Indiana Small Business Lender of the Year for generating the largest volume of U.S. Small Business Association 504 small business expansion loans. STAR Bank, Fort Wayne, was recognized for working with the CDC on the most loans during the year. The Indiana Bankers Association won the statewide award of excellence in the category of Outstanding Convention at the Annual Star Awards event hosted by the Indiana Society of Association Executives in December. IBA won for its 2013 Annual Convention, featuring a theme of “Our Roots Run Deep” – a tribute to the deeply rooted stability of the Indiana banking community, plus the wide-reaching quality of banks, which branch throughout the state. IBA Annual Conventions are coordinated by Christina M. Bennett, CMP, vice president-meetings & events, with assistance from Susan Clark, events & products/services assistant.
