Kessie, senior vice president and regional manager of commercial banking, Lake City Bank, Warsaw, has been elected incoming chairman of the American Bankers Association Agricultural and Rural Bankers Committee. He has 32 years of banking experience, including 18 with the bank. Kessie serves as treasurer and past chairman of the Whitley County Economic Development Corp., director of the Parkview Whitley Hospital and Indiana Grain Indemnity Corp., and executive committee member of the Farm Financial Standards Council. He is a past recipient of the Indiana Bankers Association Swackhamer Outstanding Agri-Banker Award. Kessie earned a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University, an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University and completed the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado. Your Community Bank, New Albany, has been named by the Louisville Business First as Most Philanthropic Company among medium companies with revenue from $10 million to $49.99 million. It is the third time the bank has received an award in the medium company category. The award was presented on Aug. 25 at the publication’s Partners in Philanthropy event, which awards companies that show leadership and financial support to local charities and organizations. Two IBA member institutions were recognized for their marketing work by the Independent Community Bankers of America. MutualBank, Muncie, earned the first-place winner of the ICBA marketing contest, ranking best overall for its 125th anniversary celebration campaign. The yearlong effort highlighted area residents who exemplify the bank’s vision ‒ “Helping People Live Better Lives” ‒ and resulted in more than $144,000 being distributed back into the community. Field & Main Bank, Henderson, Kentucky, was named to the top 10 list of bank winners for the ICBA marketing contest. Field & Main Bank was honored for its branding campaign that blended a range of traditional and digital communications to promote the concept of modern craft banking. Lake City Bank, Warsaw, has been named the Business of the Year by the Ligonier Chamber of Commerce at the chamber’s annual banquet. Jennifer Gilbert, vice president of corporate lending, Old National Bank, Evansville, is the recipient of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis (FHLBI) 2015 Community Spirit Award. The award honors an individual who shows outstanding dedication to affordable housing and community economic development. Gilbert is a board member of the Deaconess Foundation, a board member of the Student Financial Aid Association of Evansville and an instructor with Junior Achievement. Art Russell, director of Lake County community lending for Centier Bank, Northern Indiana, has been appointed representative to the Shared Ethics Advisory Commission for the town board of Merrillville. The commission is made up of various communities and counties throughout northwest Indiana to promote ethical behavior throughout the municipality.
