United Bank, Evansville, hosted a Community Day at the Mount Vernon banking center on Aug. 22. The event celebrated the Mount Vernon community by welcoming 25 local nonprofit organizations to distribute information to the public about their services, and by holding a dancing and musical talent showcase. Springs Valley Bank & Trust Company, French Lick, participated in fundraiser efforts in August to support the Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center. Bank employees assisted in making bracelets and other fundraising activities. The bank’s effort, along with Rosie Ubelhor from David’s Beauty Salon, resulted in $10,000 raised for the cause. 1st Source Bank, South Bend, donated $15,000 in August to the Marshall County Economic Development Corp. for the implementation of a strategic plan to guide economic development activities and programs over the next five years. t Lake City Bank, Warsaw, has provided financing for the Lakeland Construction Trades home built by the Building Trades Class, made up of students from Lakeland and Westview high schools. The home is located in Shipshewana. Hoosier Heartland State Bank, Crawfordsville, held a Click for Cash & Community promotion in August, in which an individual won $250 cash personally and $250 cash to be given to charities of the winner’s choice. The promotion resulted in $125 donated to Youth Services Bureau and $125 to Gold Star Mothers. West End Bank, Richmond, selects a nonprofit organization each month as a focus for charitable efforts. For August, the bank selected Centerville Playground, donating $300 from internal employee donations to the organization.
