21 Hoosier Banker April 2015 David Becker, chairman and chief executive officer of First Internet Bancorp, Indianapolis, received the Lifetime Achievement Award in Mentoring from College Mentors for Kids at an Inspire Awards event on Feb. 26 in Indianapolis. The Inspire Awards honor individuals who have inspired excellence in the workplace or the community through mentoring. Prior to the event, Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard proclaimed the date as “David Becker Day.” In addition to founding First Internet Bank, Becker has a history of successful start-up companies in financial services and technology. Dan Moore, president and chief executive officer, Home Bank, Martinsville, has been named to the Mutual Savings Association Advisory Committee of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. The OCC named four other bank CEOs from throughout the United States to the committee. The committee advises the OCC about mutual banks, assesses their current condition, and offers feedback on regulatory changes affecting mutuals’ health and viability. John Freyek, vice president, senior relationship manager of First Merchants Bank, NA, Muncie, has been elected board president for Mental Health America of Lake County. He joined the bank in 2008. Freyek serves on the board for the Highland Chamber of Commerce, Jacob’s Ladder Pediatric Rehab Center, Pines Village Retirement Communities and March of Dimes March for Babies of Lake County. Christopher Campbell, senior vice president, Centier Bank, Northern Indiana, has been selected as the Porter County representative on the Northwest Indiana Regional honoraBle mentions Development Authority, a quasigovernmental development entity entrusted to make public investment decisions within a regional framework for supporting catalytic infrastructure projects and inducing private sector investment. Campbell is the board chairman of the E.F. Wildermuth Foundation and also serves on the boards of the Valparaiso Parks Foundation, Porter Starke Foundation, Valparaiso Events and Valparaiso Development Commission.
