32 Hoosier Banker January 2016 Centier Bank, Northern Indiana, hosted a ceremony in honor of Veteran’s Day on Nov. 11. The occasion was commemorated with a color guard presentation and vocal soloist, as more than 435 relatives were honored during the ceremony for bank associates and family members. Centier provided a statement of support certificate to each of its 52 branches for display throughout the week of Nov. 9. West End Bank, Richmond, selects a nonprofit organization each month as a focus for charitable efforts. For October, the bank selected the Reid Health Foundation, donating $500 to the organization. For November, the bank selected Circle U Help Center, donating $310 from internal employee donations to the organization. iAB Financial Bank, Fort Wayne, held its third annual iCare Day by spending the day in service to more than 25 local charitable organizations on Nov. 11. Nearly 290 bank employees volunteered, participating in a variety of tasks at nonprofit facilities in Allen, Huntington, Marshall and Wells counties. STAR Bank, Fort Wayne, held the “Get Off The Couch” program, encouraging employees to participate in a six-week program to check in with weekly emails, detailing physical activities. Participating employees each received $25, and most employees donated the funds to one of four food banks within the bank’s footprint. Community Harvest Food Bank, Gleaner’s Food Bank, St. Martin’s Food Pantry and Second Harvest Food Bank each received donations of $1,006.25. STAR Bank, Fort Wayne, organized a “Letter to Santa” event, creating mailboxes at 41 bank locations throughout central and northeast Indiana for children to submit letters to Santa Claus. Each child who submitted a letter received a personalized letter back from Santa. First Bank Richmond, NA, participated in the Wayne County Relay for Life, benefiting the American Cancer Society. Total pledges and contributions from the bank resulted in a donation of more than $11,000, in addition to the bank’s $2,500 sponsorship of the event. First Bank Richmond, NA, donated $1,905 to the Alzheimer’s Association in September through operating internal bank fundraisers, including the purchase of “Forget Me Not” flowers available to bank customers. bAnking on coMMunity The American flag is raised during a Veterans Day ceremony at Centier Bank.
