Through the efforts, the bank has donated toys, valued at $700, to the Christmas Store of Love INC of Huntington County, $500 to the Back-to-School fair of Love INC, and $400 to the creation of care packages for troops serving overseas. Other organizations that the bank supported in 2015 through the fund include New Life’s Meal Ministry, New Life’s Women’s Shelter and the Angel Tree program of the Salvation Army. The bank raised more than $5,000 and donated the funds in October to local cancer programs in each of the seven counties the bank serves. The funds were used to provide mammograms, cervical cancer screenings, transportation to treatments, medical supplies and support systems. Citizens State Bank, New Castle, in partnership with the South Bend Medical Foundation, operated a blood drive. The drive resulted in 50 participants donating a total of 45 units of blood, with a potential benefit of saving 135 lives.
