Centier Bank, Northern Indiana, has partnered with the Marquette High School’s “Financial Literacy Lab” by donating $5,000 in August to complete the project buildout. The simulation lab, which offers a hands-on approach to learning about finances, was constructed in response to a large percentage of students who have interest in pursuing business beyond high school. MainSource Bank, Greensburg, associates gathered donations to aid the city of Kokomo after tornados, storms and flooding impacted the area. Bank associates collected a truckload of donations that included towels, washcloths, shampoos, soaps and other toiletry items. t 1st Source Bank, South Bend, awarded a $15,000 grant in July to Blue Jacket Inc. for its career academy to help provide job-readiness training to disadvantaged individuals striving to earn a second chance at gainful employment. Horizon Bank, NA, Michigan City, donated $1,350 in August to the Habitat for Humanity’s home project in LaPorte. The donation is a result of personal contributions from the bank’s Horizon Cares program and matching bank donations. Alliance Bank, Francesville, awarded five area high school seniors last spring with $1,000 scholarships to aid in the cost of pursuing higher education.
