31 Hoosier Banker June 2016 First Internet Bank of Indiana, Indianapolis, has been awarded the “Tech-Enabled Company of the Year” by TechPoint. The bank received the award at TechPoint’s annual Mira Awards gala that recognizes Indiana’s best companies, entrepreneurs, educators and other leaders for technology excellence and innovation. The bank was recognized for its organization’s ability to use technology to provide convenience, access and a higher-quality service to customers. In the past year, the bank has introduced two biometric authentication technologies that allow customers to access their accounts more quickly and securely from mobile devices. Five member institutions of the Indiana Bankers Association were honored in May as “The Best of the Best” in the country by Independent Banker magazine. The rankings, based on year-end FDIC call report earnings data, determined the top 25 community banks in six assetsize categories, both for Subchapter C corporation and Subchapter S corporation banks. Independent Community Bankers of America member banks were measured on return on average assets (ROAA) and return on average equity (ROAE) ratios for 2015. IBA-member institutions included in the listing were ranked as follows: Bank of Geneva - ranked 14 for ROAA Subchapter S banks with $150-$300 million in assets, and ranked 17 for ROAE Subchapter S banks with $150-$300 million in assets; First Bank of Berne – ranked 18 for ROAA Subchapter S banks with $500 million to $1 billion in assets, and ranked 17 for ROAE Subchapter S banks with $500 million to $1 billion in assets; First State Bank of Porter – ranked 21 in ROAA Subchapter C banks with $75-$150 million in assets; German American, Jasper – ranked 23 in ROAA Subchapter C banks with more than $1 billion in assets, and ranked 15 for ROAE Subchapter C banks with more than $1 billion in assets; Grant County State Bank, Swayzee – ranked 25 for ROAE Subchapter S banks with $75-$150 million in assets. Seven IBA-member companies have been recognized by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce on the 2016 Best Places to Work list. Winners were selected in four categories based on size and were determined through employer reports and comprehensive employee surveys.
