Hoosier Banker 35 Greenfield Banking Company contributed to or volunteered for United Way, Hancock County Arts Council, Hancock Regional Hospital Foundation, Hancock County Community Foundation, Hancock Economic Development Council, 4-H, Boys & Girls Club, Meals on Wheels, six Chambers of Commerce (New Palestine, Greenfield, Fortville/McCordsville, OneZone, Indiana & U.S. chambers), and Habitat for Humanity. The bank also provided financial education materials and presenter resources to four area high schools, and the bank’s Kids Club has events and newsletters promoting financial education to kids 12 and under. The bank additionally managed and sponsored a series of eight free summer concerts on the Courthouse plaza and managed an art gallery at the bank’s corporate office. Lake City Bank, Warsaw, offered a Getting Ahead Loan and a Reality Store Program in efforts to improve financial literacy among low- to moderate-income individuals. The Getting Ahead Loan provides financial literacy training utilizing the FDIC Money Smart curriculum. The Reality Store provides a real-life experience targeting teen students by putting them through a series of choices impacting occupation, salary and family status. Home Bank, Martinsville, through its gifting program, presented $11,000 to the Martinsville Noon Lions Club in June for the purchase of new advanced vision screening equipment for use in schools around Morgan County. Security Federal Savings Bank, Logansport, raised money from bank “Jeans Fridays” and donated $610 to the Kokomo Strong fund to help those impacted by the tornadoes.
