2017 Vol. 101 No. 1

36 JANUARY / FEBRUARY 2017 PNC Bank, NA, Indianapolis, operated the Grow Up Great program, a $350 million, multiyear, bilingual initiative that began in 2004 to help prepare children from birth to age five for success in school and life. Because of the bank’s long-lasting relationship with the United Way, it has created an annual employee “Giving Campaign” for United Way partners in Indiana, with over $140,000 raised in 2016. Through the PNC Grow Up Great program, the bank supports families, educators and community partners to provide opportunities that enhance learning and development in a child’s early years. Bank employees are encouraged to volunteer through paid time off and through individual and team volunteer grants. Salin Bank, Indianapolis, partnered with the Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership and sponsored an annual Homebuyer Education Bus Tour. Dorothy Dodd, mortgage officer, conducted a financial literacy course to prospective homebuyers. The education helps prepare first-time homebuyers with the home buying process and informs them with various affordable housing financing options, including grant funds. The check was presented during MainSource Bank’s customer appreciation celebration. Our Community Bank, Spencer, sponsored bank and school tours for Teach a Child to Save Day and a Reality Store to provide early education and build a foundation in learning to save.
