Joe DeHaven, retired chief executive officer of the Indiana Bankers Association, was honored with a Sagamore of the Wabash award and a concurrent House resolution at a tribute dinner held on May 3. DeHaven began his career in 1970 with Merchants National Bank of Muncie, now First Merchants Bank, then joined the Community Bankers Association of Indiana in 1990 as president and CEO. Upon the 2006 merger of the CBAI and the IBA, he served the united organization initially as president and chief operating officer, then as president and CEO. In 2016, in preparation for retirement, the president’s title was conferred to his successor, and DeHaven retired from the IBA at year-end. A member of the IBA 40 Year Club, DeHaven is a graduate of Ball State University and of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. Craig M. Dwight, chairman and chief executive officer of Horizon Bank, NA, Michigan City, has been inducted into the Times of Northwest Indiana Business & Industry Hall of Fame. He joined the bank in 1979, then from 1985 to 1990 served First of America Bank, Holland, Michigan, before returning to Horizon Bank as vice president and senior commercial loan officer. Subsequent positions included executive vice president, president, and chairman and CEO. In 2013 he also was named chairman of Horizon Bancorp. Dwight has been active with multiple community organizations and has provided board service to the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, the La Porte County Economic advisory board, the Purdue North Central Community advisory board, the Michigan City Area Chamber of Commerce and the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank’s Community Depository Institutions advisory council. He is a graduate of Indiana University. Patrick J. Glotzbach, chief executive officer of The New Washington State Bank, Charlestown, has been appointed to a threeyear term on the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis Board, Louisville branch. He has 37 years of banking experience and was president of NWSB for 15 years. Glotzbach serves on the City of Charlestown Vision Team, as a member of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors advisory board and on the board of River Ridge Development. He previously was active with the Medical Center of Southern Indiana, Saint Catherine Regional Hospital and One Southern Indiana Chamber & Economic Development. Additionally Glotzbach is a past American Bankers Association Membership Council representative and a past chair of the Indiana Bankers Association. He is a graduate of Vincennes University, of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking and of the ABA National Commercial Lending School. Kendra Vanzo, executive vice president, associate engagement and integration, Old National Bank, Evansville, has been named one of two recipients of the 2017 Ogletree Deakins Human Resources Professional of the Year award. This statewide honor, awarded by the Indiana Chamber, recognizes high moral and ethical standing, and significant contributions to the human resources function. Vanzo joined the bank in 1994. She is past board president of the Arts Council of Southwest Indiana, past board vice president for Tales & Scales; currently she serves on the boards of the Mulberry Center and ECHO Community Health, volunteers for United Way and is a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters. Vanzo earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and an MBA from the University of Southern Indiana. Gene Miles, president and chief executive officer of First Farmers Bank & Trust Company, Converse, was recognized on March 21 with an Indiana House resolution in honor of his accomplishments as an agricultural banker. Miles joined the bank 37 years ago and has served in the areas of branch management, lending, marketing and human resources, and in the positions of controller and executive vice president. He was named president and CEO in 1997. A graduate of Purdue University and of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin, Miles was honored in 2016 with the American Bankers Association Bruning Award. Bruce Wright, executive vice president and regional manager of Lake City Bank, Warsaw, has been named to the advisory board of CRA Partners, powered by the Senior Housing Crime Prevention Foundation. The board consists of community banking partners to further the mission of providing safe and secure living environments and an enhanced quality of life for senior housing residents. Home Bank, Martinsville, has been honored with an IMPACT Award through the United Way of Central Indiana. The annual IMPACT awards recognize companies for their volunteer efforts tied to United Way priorities. The United Way also has recognized Chase Bank, Indianapolis, and Barnes & Thornburg LLP, Indianapolis, as leading investors.
