Hoosier Banker 43 United Bank, Evansville, participated last year in the 911 Gives Hope for the Holidays Toy Drive. In November all United Bank banking centers in the Evansville region sold paper Santa hats for $1 each, and in early December the bank donated $1,400 to the toy drive. Monies were used to purchase toys to give to the children’s wards of Deaconess Hospital, St. Vincent’s Hospital and Methodist Hospital, and to the Ronald McDonald House and Evansville Children’s Psychiatrics Center. Lake City Bank, Warsaw, participated last November in the groundbreaking ceremony for the Manufacturing Center in Argos. Designed as a district hub for manufacturing, the center is to be a 50,000-squarefoot building, with flexibility to expand to 300,000 square feet. Lake City Bank partnered with the Town of Argos and the Marshall County Economic Development Corp., along with the Regional Development Authority, Northern Indiana Public Service Company, Indiana Municipal Power Agency and Norfolk Southern. HB For the December holiday season, the three Gary branches of Centier Bank delivered care packages for 40 women in need at the Sojourner Truth House, a nonprofit that serves homeless and at-risk women and children in Northwest Indiana, through the branches’ “Charity of Choice” campaign. Each care package included a towel, soap, toothbrush, hair supplies and additional toiletries. Past years’ Charity of Choice benefactors have included Gary Manor Senior Home, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Indiana, Linden House, City of Gary and Serenity House. Centier Bank in Plymouth donated $1,000 in January to help Bread of Life Community Food Pantry replenish its shelves after the holidays. Bank associates and clients also held a food drive to help fill the shelves. Centier Bank in Elkhart donated $2,500 in January to Boys & Girls Clubs of Elkhart County in support of Bids 4 Kids Dinner & Auction, an annual fundraiser for the organization’s Goshen Club. Centier Bank in Lafayette donated $1,250 in January to Home with Hope, which provides a continuum of care for men and women seeking treatment for alcoholism or other drug addictions. FCN Bank, Brookville, raised $600 in December when it was discovered that the local foster care program was unable to provide Christmas gifts for some local children. FCN Bank employees were offered a challenge to raise funds for the children, with the bank matching dollar-per-dollar up to $250. Within two days, staff raised $600 to donate to Franklin County Foster Care. Centier Bank delivered care packages to women at the Sojourner Truth House.
