In other words, what are our alternatives if we need deposits to grow, and what will they cost? This is perhaps the most difficult question to answer. While it’s important not to be caught off guard in a rising-rate environment, rising rates can be a good thing for a bank with a solid deposit strategy in place. HB The Farmers Bank, Frankfort, has opened a banking center at 5450 W. State Road 26 in Rossville, next to Flour Mill Bakery. The branch offers a full array of financial services, as well as drive-up facilities and an automated teller machine. In celebration, the bank is donating $20 – up to $5,000 – to the Rossville Education Foundation for every customer opening accounts through March 5, including accounts opened at other locations since the announcement in October 2016 of the new branch. Commerce Bank, Evansville, hosted a grand opening on March 8 of its new branch located at 618 N. Saint Joseph Ave., Evansville. The event included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and presentations by Mayor Lloyd Winnecke, members of the Evansville Chamber and other city officials. Refreshments were provided, and special CD rates were offered. Associates and guests of Commerce Bank, Evansville, cut the ribbon to open the bank’s new branch.
