Hoosier Banker 43 DEPARTMENTS J. Albert Smith Jr., chairman of Chase Bank, Indiana, was honored in February as a Central Indiana Hall of Fame Laureate by the Junior Achievement of Central Indiana in February. Individuals are selected for the award based on success in shaping and improving corporate and civic communities. Associates of Centier Bank, Merrillville, were honored for volunteerism by the Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership (INHP) at the organization’s 2017 Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast in January. Twenty Centier associates received the Outstanding Volunteer Group Award for participation in the Living the Dream service project, providing a mini home makeover to a family that completed INHP’s homeowner preparation program. Along with the group honor, Centier associates Lin Koontz, executive administrative assistant, and Mary Jo Kennely, vice president and group manager, were each honored with certificates of appreciation for their dedication, support and volunteer service. Two member bankers of the Indiana Bankers Association were named to the Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly 2018 Forty Under 40 list, highlighted in the March 30 issue of the publication. The awards, presented at a dinner event on March 29, recognize professionals under age 40 who go above and beyond at work and in the community to make a difference.
