Van Til, IBA president and CEO, the op-eds were published in several Indiana newspapers. “The Time Has Come for Credit Unions to Pay Federal Corporate Taxes,” distributed in May, delineates the reasons to repeal the federal tax-exempt status of the credit union industry. It was published in The Indianapolis Star; The Journal Gazette, Fort Wayne; the Terre Haute Tribune-Star; and The Times of Northwest Indiana. A similar op-ed, “Credit Unions Should Pay Their Fair Share,” was published in June by the Indianapolis Business Journal. “Landmark Legislation to Spur the Economy and Protect Consumers,” distributed in May, details the benefits of S. 2155, the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act.
