44 JULY / AUGUST 2018 DEPARTMENTS Farmers State Bank, LaGrange, donated $1,250 in April to Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry, which provides nutritious meat to hunger relief agencies within Indiana. The donation was made through the bank’s Blue Button Jean-erosity program, initiated last year, which allows employees to wear blue jeans on specific days for small monetary donations in support of local organizations. Centier Bank, Merrillville, donated $2,500 in March to the Tippecanoe Arts Federation. The donation assists implementation of arts programs and services throughout the 14 counties served by the federation. Target areas for programming includes at-risk and underserved individuals and communities, with the primary goal of providing equitable access to quality arts and culture. Centier Bank, Merrillville, has committed to a five-year partnership with the capital campaign of the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana. The food bank is on track to complete a 72,000-squarefoot facility, and Centier Bank is supporting it through a $10,000 commitment to the food bank’s “Fighting Hunger, Building Hope” capital campaign for a new facility. As of early May, the food bank has raised 60 percent of its $4 million goal for the facility, to be located at 6490 Broadway in Merrillville. Centier Bank, Merrillville, is teaming up with U93 FM’s Roofsit event to help raise money to support programs and initiatives of Prevent Child Abuse St. Joseph County.
