In honor of the occasion, Lakeland President and CEO David M. Findlay and Chairman Michael L. Kubacki rang the closing bell. Christa Koons, First Bank of Berne, and Lance Weirich, First State Bank of Middlebury, have been awarded the Prochnow Educational Foundation/Indiana Bankers Association scholarship. The scholarship provides tuition for Koons and Weirich to attend the three-year Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. Additionally the advisory board scholarship was granted to MutualBank, Muncie. Amy Cunningham, human resource officer/board secretary/S.A.F.E. Act administrator for Security Federal Savings Bank, Logansport, has been named the Volunteer of the Year by the United Way of Cass County. She has served United Way for three years and is on the executive board. Her involvement includes chairing Live United Day since 2015. Cunningham is a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University and of the Human Resource Management School through the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. DEPARTMENTS Garry Kleer, president and CEO of First Bank Richmond, has been honored as the Outstanding Board Volunteer for the Indiana Area Council of Boys and Girls Club. Kleer has served on the local Boys and Girls Club board for 12 years and previously was given the President’s Award and the Man and Youth Award. At its 100th annual meeting in early June, the United Way of Central Indiana (UWCI) honored three member banks of the Indiana Bankers Association with community service awards. Home Bank, Martinsville, and The National Bank of Indianapolis were both named 2018 Spirit United Award winners, UWCI’s highest honor. Additionally Huntington National Bank, Indianapolis, was recognized with an IMPACT Award in the area of financial stability. Three IBA-member banks were recognized in April with the Governor’s Century Award, in recognition of longevity and commitment to community service: First Merchants Bank, Muncie Old National Bank, Evansville Terre Haute Savings Bank A total of 13 member institutions of the Indiana Bankers Association were included in a nationwide listing of top 200 community banks, based on return on average equity, published by American Banker magazine in May: No. 14 – First Farmers Financial, Converse No. 49 – F.S. Bancorp, LaGrange No. 51 – Farmers Bancorp, Frankfort No. 54 – Crystal Valley Financial, Middlebury No. 65 – FFW Corp., Wabash No. 75 – Northeast Indiana Bancorp, Huntington No. 95 – NorthWest Indiana Bancorp, Munster No. 100 – Community First Bank of Indiana, Kokomo No. 137 – Farmers & Merchants Bancorp, Archbold, Ohio No. 152 – MutualFirst Financial, Muncie No. 155 – First Capital, Corydon No. 156 – Benton Financial Corp., Fowler No. 159 – Logansport Financial Corp.
