The ongoing donation is earmarked for youth programming and educational needs, including workshops, manuals, speakers, judges, camps and award trips. Any remaining funds not needed for education may be used at the discretion of the Ag Association for fairground needs and enhancements. The Schrage Family and Centier Bank, Merrillville, have committed to a $250,000 founding partner sponsorship to Whiting’s Mascot Hall of Fame, set to open in December at the corner of Front and 119th streets. The Mascot Hall of Fame is a 25,000-square-foot interactive children’s museum that is to feature exhibits emphasizing technology, engineering, science, art and mathematics. Home Bank, Martinsville, presented a community gift of $10,000 in June to SAWS (Servants at Work) in support of the organization’s mission to construct access ramps at the homes of disabled individuals who use wheelchairs, scooters or walkers. SAWS in Morgan County is affiliated with First Christian Church in Martinsville and is an outreach of an organization established as a mission of Second Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis. DEPARTMENTS Bedford Federal Savings Bank donated $1,000 in June to the Lawrence County Chapter of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. The bank has been a sponsor of this program since its inception in Lawrence County. Springs Valley Bank & Trust Company, French Lick, donated $1,000 to the West Baden Church Renewal Project on July 14 to assist with the restoration of the First Baptist (Colored) Church in West Baden Springs. The bank also donated $500 in July to the Spring Valley Jr. High Recreation Center, which provides refreshments and is free for all Springs Valley Jr. High students. Security Federal Savings Bank, Logansport, donated $25,000 in July to Junior Achievement, benefiting students participating in JA programs in Cass, Tippecanoe, Howard and Carroll counties. Funds were raised with the help of area residents, local businesses and the Community Cares initiative run by Discover® Global Network, the global payments network of Discover Financial Services. Through the initiative, bank customers could route corporate donation dollars to organizations in their neighborhoods by completing specific tasks, such as visiting a bank-affiliated website and liking posts on social media. Additionally, local businesses that started accepting Discover® Debit had $250 donations made on their behalf when they processed their first payments from Security Federal Savings Bank Discover Debit cards.
