Howard D. Passage, 89, retired regional vice president of First of America Bank, Indianapolis, died Sept. 1. He served with the bank from 1971 to 1994, holding titles including senior vice president, chief financial officer and regional controller. He previously had been employed by Ernst & Ernst accounting firm since 1955. A certified public accountant, Passage was active with Financial Executives International, the National Association of Accountants, the Bank Administration Institute, Indianapolis Kiwanis Club, Carmel Masonic Lodge #421 and Murat Shrine. He was a graduate of Bradley University and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Norman L. Tirey, 87, retired president of Muncie Federal Savings and Loan and 1984-85 chairman of the Indiana League of Savings Institutions, died June 18. He was in banking from 1948 into the 1990s, including service with Old National Bank following a merger. Tirey was active with the Delaware Advancement Corp., served on the boards of First National Bank of Portland and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis, and was presented with the Horatio Alger award by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Muncie. Additionally, he was a member of the Jaycees, Rotary Club, Optimist’s Club, the Junto Club and Scottish Rite. Tirey was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the National Guard. HB IN MEMORY OF
