Hoosier Banker 53 First Federal Savings Bank, Rochester, has been sponsoring the Dave Ramsey Foundations in Personal Finance curriculum in area schools, investing $8,000 to underwrite the cost of the Ramsey course to be taught to nearly 200 students at Tippecanoe Valley, The Crossing Plymouth and Elkhart campuses, and Penn high schools. Additionally, bank staff help teach the coursework and engage in discussions with students about financial wellbeing, saving and investing. The PNC Foundation announced plans in October to donate $100,000 to the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh to help those impacted by tragic events at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood. The Foundation also is matching PNC employee contributions to the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh that support community relief efforts, up to $100,000. The PNC Foundation receives its principal funding from The PNC Financial Services Group. HB State Bank of Lizton donated $31,000 in November to the United Way of Central Indiana. The bank’s campaign chairpersons were Amy Losh and Ryan Murphy, who organized several employee events, including a chili cook-off and silent auction. Bath State Bank presented a $7,000 check to the Franklin County Community Foundation in November for the foundation’s unrestricted fund. As the result of two-to-one matching by the Lilly Endowment Inc., the contribution has grown to $21,000. Home Bank, Martinsville, has selected Churches in Mission (CIM) as the recipient of a $5,000 donation in November from the bank’s community gifting program. The gift was designated to support of CIM’s outreach in Martinsville. Home Bank’s gifting program allocates 10 percent of the bank’s profits to nonprofits; donations have exceeded $650,000 since the program’s start in 2012. Darrianne P. Christian has been appointed to the boards of directors of Lakeland Financial Corporation and Lake City Bank, Warsaw. She began her career with the Central Intelligence Agency, followed by service as a consultant and program manager in information technology. In recent years, Christian has led several strategic initiatives for BCforward, an IT consulting and workforce fulfillment firm that she co-founded in 1998. She is a board member of Newfields and the Central Indiana Community Foundation, and also works closely with the Justin and Darrianne Christian Center for Diversity and Inclusion at DePauw University.
