Hoosier Banker 51 HORIZON BANK / Michigan City Todd Etzler has been promoted to senior vice president, general counsel. He joined the bank in 2017 with more than 25 years of legal private practice experience and corporate general counsel experience. Etzler leads all real estate and legal transactions and was instrumental in helping complete two mergers. Noe Najera has been promoted to senior vice president, consumer lending. He joined the bank in 2016 as vice president, senior consumer loan manager. Najera has 18 years of financial experience, with expertise in coaching, sales, team-building, and direct and indirect consumer lending. Additionally, he participates in the bank’s Diversity Business Council, as a banking instructor at Michigan City High School and co-chairs the bank’s sales culture steering committee. Elvis Turkovich has joined the bank as mortgage loan originator. He has more than 25 years of banking experience. Turkovich is a member of the Greater Beech Grove Chamber of Commerce and the Sertoma Club, with past community involvement including the Beech Grove Business Association and Kiwanis Club. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Quincy University and an MBA from the University of Illinois. Debra Baughman has been promoted to vice president, branch training. She joined the bank in 2017, serving in the retail division. He joined the bank in 2016 as a network engineer, bringing with him more than 20 years of IT/network engineering experience. Verma earned an associate’s degree from Purdue University-Northwest and a bachelor’s degree from MGM College in India. FIRST STATE BANK OF PORTER Jacqueline “Jackie” Ruge-Perkins has been appointed president/CEO. James Ruge remains as chairman of the board. Ruge-Perkins has been with the bank for 32 years and is a graduate of Purdue University and of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin.
