The funds were used to install a two-sided LED sign on Highway I-59, directly south of Brazil, and to enhance the landscaping around the sign. The sign is located at the entrance to the Clay County 4-H Fairgrounds, allowing Clay County 4-H to communicate more effectively about community events. Community First Bank of Indiana, Kokomo, contributed $1,000 in July to Student Impact of Westfield for its $25,000 capital campaign. The organization serves Westfield students grades 5 through 12 by providing a safe place for students to socialize, do homework and build relationships. The bank raised funds through a “Make A Splash” event hosted at the Oak Ridge branch in Westfield. The Farmers Bank, Frankfort, made a $25,000 contribution in August to the Clinton County Community Foundation in memory of Karen I. Miller, former president of The Farmers Bank, and in honor of Robert Kent Ryan Jr., former longtime member of the bank board of directors and past chairman. With to a $2 for $1 match from Lilly Endowment’s Giving Funds for Tomorrow initiative, $25,000 is being placed in The Farmers Bank Community Fund in memory of Karen Miller, and $25,000 is being placed in the Robert K. and Eleanor Ryan Community Fund. The Farmers Bank, Frankfort, contributed $5,000 in September to the Kirklin Street Scape project. The contribution made it possible for Kirklin to receive the Main Street Revitalization Grant, and the funds will be used to repair sidewalks, improve lighting and bring additional trees to downtown Kirklin. Farmers State Bank, LaGrange, donated $500 in August to Friends of the LaGrange County Drug Court. The organization supports the efforts of the court, which is a problem-solving specialized program that serves as justice intervention for the treatment of drug addiction. Friends of the LaGrange County Drug Court assists by providing the incentives for participants in reaching milestones. Farmers State Bank, LaGrange, donated $500 in July to the Therapeutic Riding Center of Steuben County. The riding center is a therapeutic program for the benefit of disabled persons of all ages, serving Steuben, DeKalb, LaGrange and Noble counties and surrounding areas. First Bank Richmond has made several community donations in recent months: $1,250 through a sponsorship for the Bloom and Glow Hot Air Balloon event in June to benefit Richmond Rose Garden; $10,000 through a sponsorship with First Tee of IndianaRichmond, a youth development organization that teaches values through golf to local youth; $5,000 through a sponsorship with Reid Health Foundation’s ReidRide, a cycling event that generates funds for the foundation’s “Shoes for Kids” program; $7,000 to Richmond Community School’s athletic department for the purchase of football Extension educator Tyler Seale (far left), accepts a 4-H donation from Steve Kidwell (holding check at left), president and CEO of Riddell National Bank, Brazil, and Robin Swalls (holding check at right), assistant vice president of the bank.
