He joined Home Building Association (now Home Bank) in 1963, became a director in 1967, and served as president and CEO from 1981 until retiring in 2000. Levell continued as a member of the board to his passing, in capacity as chairman until April 2020. Additionally, he served two terms as a director of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis. His community affiliations included the Martinsville High School building trades program, Habitat for Humanity of Morgan County, Martinsville Education Foundation, Martinsville Chamber of Commerce, Martinsville Kiwanis Club and the United Way. Levell was a member of the Indiana Bankers Association 40 Year Club and a graduate of Long Beach City College. R. Stephen Gookins, 75, past chairman of The Napoleon State Bank, died Nov. 6, 2020. He joined the board in 1972 and served as chairman from April 2012 to April 2020. Gookins served for 32 years with the Jac-Cen-Del School Corp. as a teacher, principal and superintendent. He later served as superintendent of Delaware Community School Corp. and as interim superintendent for three other school districts. Gookins was a Sagamore of the Wabash and a graduate of Franklin College.
