Hoosier Banker 21 The 2020 Banking on Women Conference moved from a physical event to a virtual conference. Just as this conference encourages women bankers to do, the Indiana Bankers Association chose to push forward and rise up with a virtual offering. This presented an opportunity to connect and deliver attendees the rich experience they expect from the Banking on Women Conference with the flexibility of the virtual world. In planning this event, we knew that changing to a virtual format meant that content was king, and attendee engagement was critical to success. The event, held virtually Oct. 22-23, drew attendance of 239 women coming together for professional development, networking and inspiration. Attendees joined the conference on Thursday, Oct. 22, and delved into a day packed with powerhouse presentations. Lisa Arnold of Home Bank, Martinsville, chair of the conference planning committee, welcomed guests and offered opening remarks on the uplifting spirit of the Banking on Women Conference. Morning sessions began with a thought-provoking presentation by emcee Juli Lynch, Ph.D., a perennial favorite from the previous three conferences and the IBA Leadership Development Program. In “RISE UP: The Emerging Paradigm of Feminine Power, Influence and Wisdom Taking Precedence in a New World,” Lynch shared insights on four guiding emotional mindsets to elevate power, influence and wisdom. Ensuing presentations were “Every Generation Matters: Why Building Multi-Generational Teams Is the Future of Work” presented by Lindsay Boccardo of Lindsay Boccardo Training & Coaching; and “Getting Grit – Putting Passion, Perseverance and Purpose to Work” presented by Caroline Adams Miller, author and media personality. Another conference highlight was the online mixology event that gave the women of the conference an opportunity to network and learn something new. Big Machine Vodka’s mixologist taught attendees how to create seasonal signature drinks. This session was an interactive and social way to wrap up the end of Day One of the conference. Prior to the conference, each registrant received a “celebration box” via U.S. mail, filled with autumn-themed goodies – including ingredients for the mixology mixer. The boxes were filled with an array of other treats, such as cake bites, pumpkin spice sachet, hand sanitizer, lip balms and Starbucks gift cards. Additionally, the boxes featured a gift bag of candies and hot apple cider mix. Thank you to our sponsors who generously donated gift box items. Speaking of sponsors, this conference would not be the same without the offering of our exhibit area, where attendees were able to visit with service providers. Exhibitors and sponsors had customized virtual landing pages where attendees could interact and learn about each provider’s products and services. Throughout the conference, exhibitors demonstrated how they can be of service to attendees through exhibitor showcase videos. The Banking on Women planning committee once again chose Ascent 121 as the beneficiary of the proceeds for this year’s silent auction. Ascent 121 is a faithbased agency that provides long-term trauma recovery services for teen survivors of sex trafficking, along with an entire continuum of care. Named after Psalm 121, Ascent 121 has served more than 300 survivors in Indiana since its establishment in 2013. The online auction raised a total of $5,000. Friday, Oct. 23, began bright and early with rise-andshine yoga. Presentations included: “Help and Serve Your Customers in a Virtual World NOW & Seamlessly Transition Back to Business as Usual LATER” presented by Kelly McDonald, founder of McDonald Marketing; “Let it Go and Lead On!” by Vicki Floyd Clark, &EROMRK SR Women Conference Rise Up!
