Hoosier Banker A classroom at Ball State University was dedicated Oct. 28, 2020, to the Indiana Bankers Association in recognition of the Association’s gift in support of a new minor in banking at the Miller College of Business. The dedication included presentations and an unveiling of the IBA logo, with the ceremony livestreamed by the university. The room dedication celebrates the partnership between Ball State and the IBA in initiating a minor in banking, intended to open career opportunities for the next generation of professionals. Additionally, the IBA has partnered with Purdue University Northwest to create a minor in banking, as well as a banking concentration. HB a number of anticipated issues, including the mandate to use electronic lien and title transfer, requiring local governments to have a standard of electronic recording in place, changes to probate law, possible lien priority issues and grain elevator indemnity fund changes, to name a few. This coming year will certainly be different for the General Assembly, both in structure and process. While new pandemic risk mitigation measures are temporary, they will alter how we engage and address the policymaking process. New chairs will bring different approaches to policies in committees. New legislation presents potential outcomes that could be beneficial or detrimental to the industry.
