18 MARCH / APRIL 2021 Riddell National Bank, Brazil, celebrated its 17th annual customer appreciation event by transforming its traditional cookout into a week-long virtual/drive-thru event in November. Customers had the chance to win one of six gift cards ranging from $25 to $100, and there was an additional online giveaway of a $100 gift card. Riddell National Bank also handed out logo items such as umbrellas, travel mugs, key chains, pens/pencils, financial management coloring books, fidget spinners and ice scrapers. Additionally, the bank enhanced its prior “Freebie Friday” to a virtual “Fantastic Freebie Friday” on the Riddell Facebook page, through which customers had the opportunity to win a $100 gift card. Security Federal Savings Bank, Logansport, opened 2021 with a New Year, New Financial Me challenge, inviting customers through email and social media following to engage in the four-week opportunity. The educational series was designed to help readers examine their financial situations, develop goals to improve, and implement changes to bring about improvement. Each week of the series, the topic changed to a different area of assessment and improvement, and each lesson concluded with a challenge for readers to complete. Springs Valley Bank & Trust Company, French Lick, has been providing online meetings with virtual personal bankers, as illustrated through a series of Facebook posts in both English and Spanish. The posts depict customers at various stages of life interacting with bankers online, with information about the services that can be completed virtually. In preparation for the computer screen meetings, Springs Valley documented guidance for employees on virtual meeting etiquette and platform use, and also provided information to customers on how to use the various platforms. STAR Bank, Fort Wayne, put together a resource page for families, with links to online activities available to children through Junior Achievement and various museums. The bank also teamed with the 500 Festival to offer the 500 Festival Kickoff to May Coloring Contest for kids 12 and under. Families could download coloring sheet designs released throughout April for children to submit entries, and two grand prize winners were awarded $500 scholarships. Additionally, STAR Bank supported a Big Brother Big Sisters Play for Kids’ Sake virtual event in May, presented a summer concert series in Noblesville and opened a bank within a high school in partnership with Zionsville Community Schools. In December, in lieu of sending holiday gifts, the bank redirected resources to make a $25,000 donation to The Salvation Army to assist its efforts in Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Muncie, Marion, Kokomo, Anderson and Columbia City. State Bank, Brownsburg, faced a challenge in hosting a socially distanced grand opening for its new banking center in Avon in November. Its solution was to hold a VIP/ ribbon-cutting event with accommodations to be held both indoors and outside. For customers and others, the bank also hosted a Mutt Strut, held at the Hendricks Regional Health/YMCA two-mile track that goes by the new banking center. The event took place outside with tents, heaters, food, coffee, music, photo booth and more. Highlighting its motto of “Today’s Banking, Yesterday’s Values,” Riddell National Bank migrated its customary customer appreciation events into socially distanced means of staying connected. A New Year, New Financial Me challenge, created by Security Federal Savings Bank, attracted more than 5,700 impressions through a series of 15 Facebook posts. Virtual personal bankers, available through Springs Valley Bank & Trust Company are promoted online through a series of branded messages in Spanish in addition to English. STAR Bank partnered with the 500 Festival to offer a coloring contest, with decorated coloring sheets delivered to healthcare heroes, educators and local businesses. Entries also were displayed on the STAR Bank and 500 Festival Facebook pages using hashtag #MayKickoff. The Mutt Strut hosted by State Bank, Brownsburg, took place outdoors on a chilly November day, with strong turnout exceeding expectations.
