Hoosier Banker 19 State Bank of Medora implemented lobby closure in March 2020, as did the full banking community nationwide. The bank, which has a single location in Medora, then reopened its lobby on Aug. 31. During the months of closure, State Bank of Medora met customer needs by directing clients to drive-thru and taking appointments for lobby visits. Terre Haute Savings Bank erected three billboards with messages designed to make viewers feel appreciated. The billboards feature a series of colored hearts, with each color representing a different type of frontline worker. THSB also increased its annual outreach support, begun in 2019 in celebration of the bank’s 150th anniversary, from five organizations to 13 in recognition of hardship brought on by the pandemic. Tri-County Bank & Trust Company, Roachdale, teamed with Abilities Services Inc. to help with a face mask fundraiser. Artists at Abilities Services produced several options, and a team selected a final assortment of three designs. United Fidelity Bank, Evansville, presented its traditional Pictures With Santa event “COVID style” in order to brighten the holiday season while keeping the community and employees safe. This annual event, intended to thank customers and the community, normally has Santa in attendance to meet with children and families to hear their wishes, and participants receive framed photos, crafts and refreshments. This past Christmas, the bank created a traveling holiday display, which families could pose with for photos. The bank also provided goody bags via drive-thru, with each bag containing a holiday craft, candy and a picture frame. HB Colorful face masks, available at locations of Tri-County Bank & Trust Company, are available for $10 donations supporting Abilities Services Inc.
