Hoosier Banker 57 STAR Bank, Fort Wayne, has begun the process of constructing new corporate headquarters at 215 W. Main St. in downtown Fort Wayne. Estimated for completion in early 2023, the project is to be a two-tower, mixed-use building with a public parking garage. The north tower of the building, currently referred to as the Ashberry Project, will have seven stories and will be just under 50,000 square feet, and the south tower will be a 20,000-square-foot, three-story building with parking decks extended over the top of the third story. The new buildings will be home to more than 220 STAR Bank employees and also will house a future Ash event venue and Just CM, which are investing partners. Additionally, the City of Fort Wayne will be an invested partner in the public parking garage. Christina M. Bennett, CMP, vice president-meetings & events, has completed 30 years of service. She is responsible for the IBA’s largest events, including the Mega Conference, Annual Convention, FLD Leadership Conference and Legislative Reception. She also serves as secretary to the IBA Board of Directors and as primary contact for the CEO peer discussion groups and roundtable meetings. Bennett is a member of the American Society of Association Executives and a committee member of Meeting Professionals International. She has earned designation as a certified meeting professional from the Events Industry Council and is a graduate of Indiana University. Tracy Kubly, technology manager, has celebrated 20 years of service with the Association. She is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the IBA’s information systems, including the computer network and telephone system, and for technological support of the IBA website and staff. Kubly joined the IBA as a receptionist in 2000 and was promoted into the accounting area in 2007, named IT and facilities manager in 2010, and designated technology manager in 2017. Prior to joining the IBA, Kubly served as office manager for a homebuilder in Indianapolis. She is a graduate of the University of Phoenix. IBA Staff Milestones Tim Fry, staff accountant, has completed 10 years of service with the IBA. His responsibilities include recording all financial transactions for the Association and its subsidiaries and streamlining accounting operations. Fry has an extensive accounting background in various industries, including the CPA field, the hospital-based health and fitness industry, benefit brokering and banking. Additionally, he has worked in the credit card division for First Chicago and as an accountant for Flat Top Grill, a Chicago-based restaurant chain. Fry is a graduate of Elmhurst College and a trustee of the Catch the Stars Foundation. Marcy Borden, CMP, education meeting coordinator, has marked her fifth anniversary with the Association. She is responsible for assisting IBA’s vice president-education & training with seminars, schools, webinars and teleconferences. Previously, Borden was a procurement agent with the Indiana Department of Transportation. Additional experience includes service with the Department of Sociology at Purdue University and with Daka International, as owner of Practical Potions retail and as a freelance journalist. A graduate of Arizona State University, Borden has earned designation as a certified meeting professional from the Events Industry Council. HB Congratulations to the following Indiana Bankers Association employees who completed milestone anniversaries in 2020. They were recognized at a virtual holiday celebration party last December.
