Miles has retired as CEO of First Farmers Bank & Trust Co., Converse. He continues to serve as president and CEO of First Farmers Financial Corporation. Mark “Doc” Holt, president of First Farmers Bank & Trust Co., has been named CEO of the bank. Gene Miles joined First Farmers in 1979 as a branch manager and later served as commercial loan officer, compliance officer, investment officer, marketing officer and accounting officer. He was named executive vice president in 1984, president in 1997, and president and CEO in 1999. Miles was honored with the American Bankers Association Bruning Award in 2016, and with the Indiana Bankers Association Leaders in Banking Excellence Award in 2020. A member of the IBA 40 Year Club, he is a graduate of Purdue University and of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. Michael S. “Mickey” Maurer has retired as chairman of the board of directors of The National Bank of Indianapolis after 28 years of service. He continues to serve as a board director. Greg Maurer, a director of the bank, has been named chairman of the board. Mickey Maurer co-founded the bank in 1993 and has had a longstanding career as an attorney and entrepreneur, with ventures in cable television, film production, radio broadcasting, publishing and real estate. He is chairman of the board of IBJ Corp. and IBJ Book Publishing LLC and has been active in organizations including Mickey’s Camp, the Jewish Community Relations Council, Indianapolis Zoological Society, United Way of Central Indiana, University of Indianapolis, Ascension St. Vincent Hospital and The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. Richard Thompson has retired from the board of directors of North Salem State Bank. He was on the board for 25 years as a director, followed by 10 years as an advisory board member. Thompson served in the Indiana House of Representatives for six years and in the Indiana Senate for 12 years. He was a teacher, coach and principal in Hendricks County for 34 years and also taught at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and the University of Indianapolis. HB
