28 JULY / AUGUST 2021 Take Your Next Leadership Step With the FLD 2 LDP Scholarship Josh Myers Assistant Vice President - Member Engagement Indiana Bankers Association jmyers@indiana.bank @joshmyersIN FLD FOCUS As in-person opportunities come back into normalcy, the Indiana Bankers Association is providing several options for bankers to learn and grow. One of our most comprehensive programs that we are excited to relaunch is the IBA Leadership Development Program. Graduating dozens of leaders in the banking industry already, this one-of-a-kind program is guaranteed to challenge, motivate and accelerate the development of leaders in banking. Designed for bankers who are motivated and eager to reach their full potential, the IBA Leadership Development Program is perfect for members of the Future Leadership Division who are looking to take the next step in their leadership growth. Over the years, the Leadership Development Program has enabled several FLD members to step out of their comfort zones to become more capable leaders in their spheres of influence by: • Finding courage and confidence to overcome personal weaknesses; • Sharpening a competitive attitude for productive teamwork; and • Developing a collaborative spirit that centers on problem-solving. Through strategic planning with members of the IBA Board of Directors and FLD Advisory Board, the IBA sought to strengthen the connection between the Leadership Development Program and the Future Leadership Division. The result was the creation in 2018 of the FLD 2 LDP Scholarship. FLD members interested in attending the Leadership Development Program in 2022 can apply for the FLD 2 LDP Scholarship. Each recipient’s bank will receive $1,500 toward registration fees for the program, thanks to the generous sponsorship of SmithAmundsen LLC. The scholarship is open to bankers who have been FLD members for at least six months. Members of the FLD will be receiving application materials in September for the opportunity to earn the scholarship for the 2022 class. By investing a few minutes to complete the application, FLD members can potentially take advantage of an opportunity to accelerate their growth toward becoming more well-rounded leaders. Since the program’s inception, two award winners have been named: Nikita Brown of Springs Valley Bank & Trust Company, French Lick, and Nichole Hollingsworth of North Salem State Bank. Both scholarship winners are currently participating in the 2021 IBA Leadership Development Program class. As we approach 2022, please consider the IBA Leadership Development Program for yourself, and be sure to apply for the FLD 2 LDP Scholarship for your chance to take your next step.
