Hoosier Banker 13 GENE E. MILES First Farmers Bank & Trust Converse LARRY W. MYERS First Savings Bank Jeffersonville Gene E. Miles is CEO of First Farmers Bank & Trust, Converse, president and CEO of First Farmers Financial Corp., and a director of both organizations. He was named president and CEO of the bank in 1997 and transitioned to his current position in 2019. Miles was honored with the American Bankers Association Bruning Award in 2016 for lifetime achievement in agricultural banking; was awarded an Indiana House resolution in 2017 in recognition of banking accomplishments; and attended the 2018 State of the Union address in Washington, D.C., at the invitation of U.S. Sen. Todd Young. Miles is a member of the Indiana Bankers Association 40 Year Club and has served on the IBA Insurance Agency Board of Directors. He is a graduate of Purdue University and of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. Larry W. Myers is president and CEO of First Savings Bank, Jeffersonville. He joined the bank as chief operating officer in 2005 after prior experience with banks in southern Indiana and Kentucky. A board member of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis and the Indiana Statewide Certified Development Corp., Myers served in past leadership positions with the St. Louis Federal Reserve Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council; American Bankers Association; and Indiana Bankers Association, for which he was 2015 chairman. He has been active with One Southern Indiana and Boy Scouts Lincoln Heritage Council, has been inducted into the Kentuckiana Business Hall of Fame and is a member of the IBA 40 Year Club. Myers earned bachelor’s and MBA degrees from the University of Kentucky and completed the Graduate School of Banking of the South and the Cannon Trust School. John W. Tanselle, a partner at SmithAmundsen LLC, Indianapolis, co-chairs the firm’s financial services practice group. A practicing attorney since 1981, he helped draft banking-related Title 28 of Indiana Code. Tanselle is a former trustee for Methodist Health Foundation and Christian Theological Seminary, as well as a past board member of the Indianapolis Public Library Foundation. He has earned multiple awards including: Best Lawyers Indianapolis Banking and Finance Law Lawyer of the Year in 2014; Best Lawyers in America; Indiana Super Lawyers; and recognitions from the Indianapolis Business Journal for Who’s Who in Banking and 40 Under 40. Tanselle is a Distinguished Fellow of the Indianapolis Bar Foundation and a member of the Indianapolis, Indiana State and American bar associations. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and a JD from the IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law. JOHN W. TANSELLE SmithAmundsen LLC Indianapolis RYAN M. WARNER Bippus State Bank Huntington Ryan M. Warner has devoted his full career to Bippus State Bank, Huntington. He joined the organization in 1977, was promoted to president in 1987, and was named chairman of the board and CEO in 2019. Active in the banking community, he serves as a director of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis. Additionally, Warner was 1992-93 chairman of the Community Bankers Association of Indiana, which later merged with the Indiana Bankers Association. His community leadership includes service as past president and current board secretary of Huntington County Economic Development, as a member of the President’s Advisory Council on Excellence at Huntington University, and as past president of the board of Parkview Huntington Hospital. A member of the IBA 40 Year Club, Warner is a graduate of International Business College and of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. (Continued)
