22 SEPTEMBER / OCTOBER 2021 GR SUMMIT After a year of COVID-19 restrictions and a virtual Washington trip in 2020, the Indiana Bankers Association and over 50 bankers made their way back to our nation’s capital July 18-20 to visit with regulators and legislators to advocate on behalf of the banking industry. IBA Annual Washington Trip Together again in 2021 Indiana bankers spent two full days in D.C. meeting with regulators and the Indiana congressional delegation. The annual Washington trip is a critical component of IBA’s grassroots advocacy efforts, providing members with the opportunity to educate both policymakers and regulators on the issues that impact the banking industry. Highlights from the trip included a meeting with Chairman Jelena McWilliams of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., gatherings with the Indiana congressional delegation, and capping off the trip with a Washington Nationals baseball game. Policy discussions with both regulators and legislators were productive. Bankers advocated for more clarity regarding cannabis and banking, additional oversight
