26 SEPTEMBER / OCTOBER 2021 Real-Life Leadership Content Courtesy of the IBA Future Leadership Division Josh Myers Assistant Vice President - Member Engagement Indiana Bankers Association jmyers@indiana.bank @joshmyersIN FLD FOCUS Over the last year, the Future Leadership Division of the Indiana Bankers Association has embarked on a mission to bring leadership content for members that can be applicable and relatable to their roles in their banks. It’s no secret that banks throughout Indiana have been vital to our state’s success, and in each institution there are examples of strong leadership that led those institutions to prominence in their communities. The FLD is tapping into the knowledge and experience of these leaders to offer a member benefit that is free to use, but highly relatable and applicable, regardless of bank department or job level. Beginning in July 2020, the FLD enlisted the support of IBA-member bankers and education providers to create a library of leadership content that includes leadership lessons, viewpoints on what leadership looks like and other insights that anyone, whether in a supervisory role or not, can apply to their current positions. Our guest writers are proven leaders, not only in their own institutions, but also demonstrated through their participation with the IBA. They bring a wide range of experience, including their discovery of better ways to effectively lead and help peers. As part of the Indiana banking community, it makes sense that we make use of the expertise found right here at home. Our members have vast experience in our state, in their communities, with the people of Indiana, in the business environment – and all the challenges that come along. They write from a personal perspective about what leadership means to them, and some even include personal mottos that have guided them. These snapshots of Indiana banking leaders are quick reads, providing glimpses of the authors and their backgrounds. They show how real-life events or influences have shaped their professional careers and impacted the way they lead others. These articles are released monthly with each issue of the FLD Focus e-newsletter, which also includes other useful content to keep FLD members informed about opportunities. We plan to continue to provide these leadership articles, and we hope that you will make a point to check them out. FLD Focus feature articles are a helpful resource for anyone looking to delve into leadership insights, and they can be easily accessed by signing up for free FLD membership to join the distribution list. I encourage you to look at some of the past articles we have been privileged to include over the last year, and be sure to sign up for FLD membership to stay updated.
