Freeman, CAE, executive vice president of the Indiana Bankers Association, is retiring effective Sept. 30 after 34 years of service. He joined the IBA in 1987 to fill the newly created position of director of member services. In his most recent position as executive vice president, his responsibilities have included serving the Association as chief financial officer. Among Freeman’s accomplishments are the creation in 1992 of the annual IBA Mega Conference, the largest state bankers association meeting in the nation; the establishment in 1996 of the IBA Center for Professional Development, providing a wide range of educational opportunities to Indiana bankers; orchestrating the Association’s 2017 move to current headquarters, as well as two prior office moves; and management of New Markets Tax Credits transactions, enabling IBA support of college-level banking education in Indiana. Freeman is a past chairman of the Indiana Council for Economic Education and past president of the Indiana Society of Association Executives, which honored him as Association Professional of the Year in 2006. He was appointed to the board of directors of the Indiana Statewide Certified Development Corporation in 2018 and has been a longtime member of the American Society of Association Executives. Before joining the IBA, Freeman was employed for four years with Robert Morris Associates (now the Risk Management Association) in Philadelphia and additionally had nine years of banking experience with American Fletcher National Bank and Trust Company, Indianapolis. He was named to the IBA 40 Year Club in 2014. A certified association executive, Freeman earned bachelor’s and MBA degrees from Butler University, and he is a graduate of the Institutes for Organizational Management at the University of Delaware. Arden L. Cramer, president and CEO of Logansport Savings Bank, has retired. He joined the bank in 2006 as executive vice president and was named to his most recent position in 2010. Cramer began his banking career in 1977, while still in high school, working part-time at Peru Trust Company. In 1982 he began working full-time as auditor and later moved to commercial lending. In 1991, Cramer joined The Farmers & Merchants State Bank, later known as Salin Bank and Trust Company, where he served as a commercial lender for 14 years. He has volunteered with the United Way in Miami and Cass counties and also has served on numerous Cass County boards. A graduate of Ball State University, Cramer is a member of the Indiana Bankers Association 40 Year Club and a past member of the IBA Board of Directors. Stuart Hood, president and CEO of Community State Bank, Avilla, has retired. He joined the bank in 2006 and served in the lead executive role for 12 years. During his tenure, Hood was instrumental in expanding the bank’s locations. Joe Martin, north regional president of STAR Bank, Fort Wayne, has announced plans to retire in the first quarter of 2022. He joined First National Bank of Madison County, which later merged into STAR Bank, 39 years ago and has been in multiple leadership positions serving Madison County, Elwood, Anderson, Marion and Kokomo. Martin was named to his current position in 2012. Additionally, he has served as president and chairman of STAR Insurance Agency and as a member of the board of directors of STAR, Security Bank in Elwood, and Titan Investments. HB
