Hoosier Banker 59 GERMAN AMERICAN BANK / Jasper Mark A. Schroeder will assume the position of executive chairman of the bank and its holding company, German American Bancorp Inc., effective Jan. 1, 2022. He has been with German American for 49 years and has served as CEO since 1999. Additionally, Schroeder has been a member of the German American board since his appointment as president in 1991. Other corporate positions include senior lending officer, chief financial officer and chief operating officer. Schroeder will act in a senior advisory capacity as he assumes his new role as executive chairman in anticipation of his expected retirement as an executive officer and active employee during the second quarter of 2022. It is expected that he will continue to serve as chairman until completion of his board term in 2023. Schroeder has served the Indiana Bankers Association as 2003 chairman of the Community Bankers Association of Indiana, which later merged with the IBA. He has been designated an IBA Leader in Banking Excellence and is a member of the IBA 40 Year Club. D. Neil Dauby will assume the position of president and CEO of the bank and its holding company, German American Bancorp Inc., effective Jan. 1, 2022. He also has been appointed to the boards of both the bank and the holding company. Dauby joined German American in 2001 and currently serves as president and chief operating officer. He previously served as executive vice president and chief commercial banking officer in addition to past affiliate and regional president roles. Prior to joining German American, Dauby had 16 years of leadership experience with regional accounting firms in various Kentucky markets. He is a certified public accountant and a graduate of Western Kentucky University. Rust will transition to an expanded role of senior executive vice president and chief operating officer of the bank and its holding company, German American Bancorp Inc., effective Jan. 1, 2022. He currently serves as senior executive vice president and chief financial officer. Rust joined German American in 1999 in connection with its merger with 1st Bancorp of Vincennes and has been serving as CFO since 2005. With more than 30 years of banking experience, he previously served as a federal bank examiner and in various capacities within the accounting and finance functions for 1st Bancorp and German American. Additionally, Rust has had executive management experience within the operations and technology areas for German American.
