Hoosier Banker 45 BANKERS ON THE MOVE BANKERS ON THE MOVE FIRST FEDERAL SAVINGS BANK / Rochester Evan Gottschalk has assumed the role of CEO in addition to his role of president. He succeeds Richard E. Belcher, the bank’s founding chairman, president and CEO. Gottschalk joined the bank in 2008, was promoted to president/chief operating officer in 2016, and became a board member of the bank’s holding company in 2020. In the community, he serves as president of the board of directors of the Northern Indiana Community Foundation and as a board member of the Fulton County Housing Authority Inc. Gottschalk serves on the Indiana Bankers Association Insurance Agency Board of Directors and on the IBA Audit and Government Relations committees. He is a graduate of the University of Indianapolis. Gina Howell has been promoted to mortgage manager of the Plymouth office. She has been with the bank for 28 years and has 36 years of mortgage loan experience. GERMAN AMERICAN BANK / Jasper Amy D. Jackson has been promoted to executive vice president and chief administrative officer. She joined the bank in 2018 in connection with the bank’s merger with First Security Bank of Owensboro, Kentucky, and has more than 20 years of banking experience. Jackson most recently served as senior vice president-administrative development and strategic planning. She is a graduate of Leadership Kentucky and is active in the greater Owensboro community in several leadership capacities. Jackson is a graduate of Kansas State University. Clay M. Barrett has been promoted to executive vice president, and chief digital and information officer. He joined the bank in 2012 and has more than 20 years of banking experience. Barrett most recently served as senior vice president-technology and operations. An accredited ACH professional and certified Treasury professional, he serves on several boards in the greater Evansville community. Barrett is a graduate of Oakland City University. Ann M. Brown has been promoted to senior vice president-director of human capital. She has 27 years of banking industry experience. Brown serves on various community boards and committees. She is a graduate of the Human Resource Management School program of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. Certified as a senior professional in human resources and executive coach, Brown is an adjunct professor at Indiana University Southeast. MERCHANTS BANK OF INDIANA / Carmel Robert Burtner has been promoted to chief credit officer. He joined the bank in 2019 and previously served as senior vice president, bridge and construction lending before transitioning into the deputy chief credit officer position. Previously, Burtner served as senior vice president, bridge and construction lending at Merchants Capital Corp., prior to which he worked in commercial banking focused on credit underwriting, credit management, portfolio management, construction monitoring and loan origination. Lauren Campbell has joined Merchants Capital, an affiliate of Merchants Bank, as senior vice president and general counsel. She previously served with Ice Miller LLP in Indianapolis and with Holland & Knight LLP in Boston. Campbell earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago and a JD from Boston College. Prior to joining the bank, he served as a home loan consultant for a mortgage lending company headquartered in Fort Wayne. Ward is a graduate of Purdue University-Fort Wayne.
