2022 Vol. 106 No. 4

62 JULY / AUGUST 2022 What is a personal motto or quote that you live by? “Our bank’s vision statement is, ‘Making Lives Better.’ We speak almost daily about how this statement is powerful for us here at work and beyond. “Making lives better can mean doing big things, but it often is just being kind. Engaging someone with a smile can make such a difference.” Reflecting on your career, what accomplishments are you most proud of? “My greatest source of pride is that I have had the opportunity to work for this incredible organization. Home Bank has been a stabling force and constant in our community for over 130 years. It is humbling beyond words to think of the legacy that our team today has inherited.” Please share a bit about family/home life. “I have been very blessed with a wonderful husband, Kevin, who is a third-generation corn and soybean farmer. When we have down time and can get away, we enjoy traveling. “Our favorite destination is Utah, where we take our UTV and ride in some of the most breathtaking scenery you could ever imagine.” HB IBA BoardReview Lisa Arnold South Region Director Indiana Bankers Association President and CEO Home Bank, Martinsville HB Digital: Click to view a biography of Lisa Arnold, or visit indiana. bank/about. A travel photo shows Lisa and Kevin Arnold navigating the dramatic terrain of Utah. Lisa Arnold is a south region director on the Indiana Bankers Association Board of Directors. Additionally, as a past president of the IBA Future Leadership Division, she previously served on the board in that capacity. Lisa recently answered the following questions for Hoosier Banker: What was your first job, and what did you learn from it? “My first job was actually right here at Home Bank! I needed work for college and was encouraged to apply. I immediately fell in love with the people and the bank’s mission so much that I continued part-time even while I pursued a teaching career after graduation. “I came back for good in 1994 – one of the very best decisions of my life.” What drew you to banking? “When I took that summer job in 1985, I had never considered banking as a possible career choice. Like so many outside of our industry, I was not aware how much our business is really about people. “As bankers, serving and helping others literally drives everything that we do. I absolutely love that about it.” What advice do you have for those starting careers in banking? “Give your complete attention to the role you are in today, and serve that customer in front of you to the very best of your abilities. Do that, and doors will open for you and your career.” If you weren’t a banker, what would you be? “I am not sure if I would have continued in education; but after being a community banker for almost 37 years, I honestly can’t conceive of doing anything else.” What’s one item on your bucket list? “My family heritage is Scotch-Irish, so I would love to visit Great Britain someday. I have also always wanted to see the Eagles in concert, but time is quickly getting away from me on that one …”
