Hoosier Banker 57 Hosparus Health, the Lincoln Heritage Council of the Boy Scouts of America and the board of advisers of Indiana University Southeast. Additionally, he was a member of the Indiana CPA Society, American Institute of CPAs and Legatus of Louisville. Harbeson was honored with the Service Award and Premier Award from Hosparus Health and with the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America. A graduate of Indiana University Southeast, he earned designations as a certified public accountant and certified fraud examiner. Lindy L. Lybarger, 94, retired president and CEO of Indiana Lawrence Bank, North Manchester, died July 11. He began his banking career in 1952 and later joined Indiana Lawrence Bank, where he served for 30 years and led the bank as president and CEO for seven years before retiring in 1986. Lybarger was active with the Indiana Bankers Association and was a past north region 1 director. His community outreach included Rotary International, the North Manchester Community Foundation and North Manchester Chamber of Commerce, of which he was a past president. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Lybarger was a graduate of Indiana University and of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. He was proud to be the second generation of a four-generation banking family. HB KENTLAND BANK Julie Butler has joined the bank as consumer lender. She has 13 years of community banking experience as a customer service representative, personal banker and assistant branch manager. Butler is active in the community and has volunteered with Junior Achievement. TRI-COUNTY BANK & TRUST COMPANY Roachdale Paige Hoover has joined the bank as office manager with oversight over the Roachdale, Bainbridge and Russellville offices. Bender, 63, chairman of the board of the Bank of Wolcott, died Aug. 10. He served with the bank for 30 years as a lender, president and CEO, and chairman. Bender began his career at Camden State Bank in 1981. His community activities included positions as treasurer of the Purdue FarmHouse Foundation, volunteer for Junior Achievement of White County, and board member of the Carroll County REMC and the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corp. He was a recipient of the Indiana Bankers Association Outstanding Agri-Banker Memorial Swackhamer Award and a member of the IBA 40 Year Club. Bender was a graduate of Purdue University, where he was elected to the Mortar Board and served as president of FarmHouse Fraternity. Additionally, he completed the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. Roger A. Harbeson, 62, partner and chairman of the board of Monroe Shine & Co. Inc., New Albany, died June 23. He joined the firm as an intern in 1980, became an owner in 1989, served as president and CEO from 2010 to 2016, and was named chairman in 2017.
