German American earned the #19 ranking and Premier Bank was named #28 out of 196 community banks in S&P’s annual ranking of the best-performing community banks with assets between $3-10 billion. German American Bank was also awarded a Five Star rating from BauerFinancial Inc. – its top rating – for the 30th consecutive year. The rating is based on capital adequacy, profitability, loan quality and more. Merchants Bank of Indiana, Carmel, has received a superior rating from the IDC Financial Publishing bank rating agency. The bank received a 300 rating, the agency’s highest possible safety rating. The rating is calculated based on capital risk/ requirements, adequacy of capital, margins, earnings returns and liquidity. This is the 12th consecutive quarter in which the bank has received a 300 rating. Merchants Capital, an affiliate of Merchants Bank of Indiana, Carmel, reached #2 on the Affordable Housing Finance Top Lenders listing, up from #8 last year. The firm closed $8.95 billion in debt production in 2022, up 27% from 2021’s $7 billion while the industry contracted by 11% in the same year, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association. Premier Bank, Defiance, OH, was awarded the “Doing Well by Doing Good” Award from Mastercard for the bank’s philanthropic efforts and volunteerism. This was the fourth year Mastercard awarded this honor, meant to highlight the achievements of financial institutions and the impact they have on their local communities.
